Summer Family Bonding : TV Viewing (1)

And so it's summer! Yup, I'm not much of an outdoor person and I don't fancy staying out in the sun all that much. But I would definitely love a dip in an indoor pool. LOL! I just read that so far today is the hottest day with temp reaching 36.2 C where I am. Ugghh! Wouldn't you love to stay in an air-conditioned room? I know I would love that! Plus, I don't have the energy to stay in front of the pc all that much either. The "kids" are on break from school so it's a great time to bond with them. Well, by "kids" I mean my daughter who just recently graduated from high school and my niece who's starting Grade 5 soon. ^_^

Phineas and Ferb surfing
Well, I must say we have found a less expensive way to bond... staying in front of the boob tube in my niece's air-conditioned room :D So instead of having our own adventures, we content ourselves with watching how "Phineas and Ferb" spend their summer days. LOL! My daughter's been telling me about this show, but I haven't paid it much attention until this summer! I must say I'm kinda hooked too! I think it's the kid in me.

Phineas and Ferb under the tree
The show's amazing! Can you imagine how imaginative and inventive these geeky kids seem to be?! If only real kids are even half as close... lol! ^_^

Yeah, I'm not as productive as I usually am this summer.. esp. not with the HOT weather! I totally feel like I want to curl up somewhere cooler and cozier. Nonetheless, I'm just glad that I get to bond with the "kids" this summer. Ahh, the joys of working from home.

All righty, gotta finish this up.. TV bonding time comes up really soon! Till next time... ta-tah! I hope you're enjoying your days too!

Venus of the Universe

Yup! You guessed it right. If you're up-to-date with the latest headlines, I'm referring to none other than 2010 Miss Universe 4th Runner-up Venus Raj. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of beauty pageants. So why am I blogging about it? LOL! Well, for one thing it has been a while since a Philippine representative ever made it to the finals of an international beauty contest, esp. one as prestigious as the Miss Universe pageant. The news actually came as a breather from Monday's tragic hostage taking event in Manila. I didn't get to watch the pageant per se, but I read news articles about it. I've also seen a few clips from the news.

Raj was asked by American actor William Baldwin during the question-and-answer portion about the biggest mistake she made in her life and what she did to correct it. Her reply may not have been the most brilliant one, but what do you actually expect from a 22-year old who hasn't lived her life to the fullest? To me, questions like that require deeper thought, if you want an intelligent answer, that is. On t.v. last night, several clips were shown about public personalities who were asked the same question in the past. That included former President George W. Bush. Even he commented to the press that they should have written that question and handed it to him in advance so that he could answer it well. One t.v. personality said he wouldn't answer it in front of the camera. LOL! ^_^ Tough huh? It was made even more difficulty by the fact that the whole world is watching.

Venus Raj's reply to the question: "You know what, sir, in my 22 years of existence, I can say that there's nothing major, major problem that I've done in my life because I'm very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me."

One thing for sure, Venus's reply caught on. "Major, major" is talk of the town. Even I find myself using the expression sometimes. LOL! ^_^ She's back in the country early today. I would expect there would be a 'major, major' welcome for her in her hometown in Bicol! :p With that said, till another blogging day! Ta-tah! :D

Escape from Reality (Features TV Shows I Get Lost in)

Okay, so I must admit I don't always just sit by my pc and play games on fb. What keeps me away? TV shows I like to watch! I get to be a bit choosy when it comes to watching TV shows. When bored, I'm usually just flicking channels till I come across something interesting. There are, however, some shows that I do prefer watching and would mostly tune in to them. In fact, I've even marked my calendar for these TV shows. Yup! That's a plural. That means it would take more than one article to talk about my faves. I'll start off with this new show which I've started watching last February. I tuned in mainly 'coz the trailer was so interesting and main lead's SO HOT!!! From where I am, we get it on Fox every Thursday night. It's none other than the show White Collar.

Starring : Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay, Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson
Plot Outline:
White Collar is about the unlikely partnership of a con artist and an FBI agent who have been playing cat and mouse for years. Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer), a charming criminal mastermind, is finally caught by his nemesis, FBI Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay). When Neal escapes from a maximum-security prison to find his lost love, Peter nabs him once again. Rather than returning to jail, Neal suggests an alternate plan: he'll provide his criminal expertise to assist the Feds in catching other elusive criminals. Initially wary, Peter quickly finds that Neal provides insight and intuition that can't be found on the right side of the law.

I'm hooked to the show since I've seen the pilot episode. Let's face it, Neal Caffrey is HOT HOT HOT! I don't even mind if Matt Bomer is supposedly openly gay. I mean that doesn't change the fact that he's still one gorgeous hunk. Matt gives life to Neal's character and I would say it fits him to a T. The second episode wasn't as good as the first one, but the rest of the episodes get better. I like the fact that it's different from the other crime shows. I enjoy watching it a lot 'coz it's amusing, entertaining, and intelligent. There's not much of the gun-wielding violence to it. So far what they've shown on Fox are the first seven episodes. Then they're showing reruns. Good thing there's the Internet to view the rest of the seven episodes in the first season. The first half of the season may be good, but the second half really gets better. The season ended with a cliffhanger and now, I can't wait for the second season of the show.

Peter Burke and Neal Caffrey have this amazing chemistry that it's cool watching them work together. It's like their trust for each other is being tested in every episode. Neal is the kind of con guy that you would want to root for. He's a con man alright, but he's got this appeal that shows his good side as well. I love Elizabeth. She's such a supportive and loving wife to Peter. And then there's Mozi, Neal's con friend who's always there to assist him. Overall, I like the light theme of the show. If there's one show I'd watch when I don't want to get stressed out, this is it!
So while I'm waiting for the second season of White Collar, I'll indulge in my other fave shows. Next time around I'll talk about my number one fave show. Its fifth season is still ongoing and I'm just waiting for the finale before I can fully talk about it. ^_^ For the meantime, sit back, relax, and enjoy a show!
